Company Details

Founded on September 4, 1944, May & Baker, Nigeria Plc was the first pharmaceutical company in Nigeria. May & Baker originated in England, the United Kingdom where in 1834, three chemists founded Grimwade, May & Pickett, a  firm for manufacturing chemicals for pharmaceutical products. Grimwade, May & Pickett in 1839 transformed into May & Baker United Kingdom Limited following changes in the ownership. Through series of mergers and acquisitions over years, May & Baker UK Limited transformed into a mega European conglomerate . Consequently the company's name has changed at different times and today, only the Nigerian offshoot is known by the initial name. 

The company started In Nigeria as May & Baker (West Africa) Limited at 17A Tinubu Street, Lagos in 1944 as mentioned earlier, which was a trading outpost to serve the West Coast of Africa. During the Nigerian civil war, May & Baker, Nigeria relocated to its present site at Ikeja, Lagos state . It built its factory at Ikeja in 1976, where it began local manufacturing of pharmaceutical products.  That same year it changed to May & Baker Nigeria Limited from May & Baker (West Africa) Limited.

Following the indigenisation decree in 1979, which required that foreign interests in companies operating in Nigeria be of a minority nature, May & Baker, United Kingdom Sold 60 per cent of its equity holding in May & Baker Nigeria to Nigerians while retaining only 40 per cent. Though the company’s name was changed to Embechem Nigeria Limited but this was discontinued later and the name remained to May & Baker Nigeria Limited.

Job Details

Requirements
Prospective Candidates must possess a B.Pharm or a degree in Pharmacology with at least one (1) year (NYSC inclusive) medical field sales experience with a reputable company. Applicants must be result oriented, self-motivated with good oral and written communication skills and must possess strong persuasion and presentation skills with proficiency with MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

3. SALES REPRESENTATIVES (CONTRACT) - SUBSIDIARY

Type: Contract Job

Requirements 
Applicants for the position must possess a minimum of B.Sc in Biological sciences with at least one (1) year (NYSC inclusive) experience with a reputable company. Applicants must be result oriented, self-motivated with good oral and written communication skills and must possess strong persuasion and presentation skills with proficiency with MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

It is also required that candidates must also possess good interpersonal, communication and persuasive skills with the ability to interact effectively with a variety of people at all levels.

4. PRODUCTION CO-ORDINATOR (CONTRACT - ABUJA)

Experience: 3 yrs

Job Details
The Production Co-ordinator reporting to the Production Manager, the preferred candidate will be expected to co-ordinate the Production process to achieve output and efficiency targets. He / She must demonstrate a high level of knowledge in production processes involving plant / herbal extraction, spray drying, compounding and encapsulation with strong people skills. The preferred candidate should possess a B.Sc in Pharmaceutical or Biological Sciences with minimum of 3 years’ experience.

5. MARKETING MANAGER

Job Details
The Marketing Manager successful candidate will be responsible for the development and implementation of strategic and annual marketing plans for our pharma business aimed at enhancing the company’s competitive market position and delivering profit and growth expectations from the business.
  • He / She must possess good Technical / analytical ability, strong oral and written communication abilities, good presentation skills, good planning, co-ordination and decision making skills.
  • Candidates must demonstrate outstanding business knowledge and proficiency with relevant computer applications.
  • Candidates must demonstrate a high level of competence in Pharma Marketing function and possess strong people leadership skills with B.Pharm, MBA and 10 to 15 years cumulative experience with a reputable company.
